The register used to be a project we restarted every January. Now it fills in as agreements are signed, and every entry points to its clause.
Before
Key terms lived in the agreements themselves. A renewal question meant finding the latest signed copy, then reading it, then checking whether any amendment changed the answer. The register the team kept in a spreadsheet was always months behind.
What changed
Signed agreements are saved to a watched folder. Avelin reads the start date, term, renewal, notice period and liability cap, marks each clause and adds a row to the register. Amendments are linked to the agreement they change, and the register shows the value currently in force with a mark to the amendment.
What the team does now
Lawyers review new rows weekly, about twenty minutes for a normal week. Notice reminders are set from the register automatically, sixty days before each notice date.
